Weekend Post- Update in Afgan


It seems that today Gen. David H. Petraeus, the head of the U.S. Central Command, said the battle being fought in the Taliban stronghold in Afghanistan could last 12 to 18 months. I feel that this is reasonable. A war this big for us is not supposed to take 1month or so but up to a year and a half.

MLK.

This is part of the famous "I have a dream" speech. This speech has unified many black people across America before I was born during one of the worst possible times it was to be black. This speech helped lead the rest of the way to our rights and I am very thankful that he put his life up to do what he believed was right. In memory of what he has done for all black people I give you this to read.


I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation.

Five score years ago, a great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of Negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity.

But one hundred years later, the Negro still is not free. One hundred years later, the life of the Negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination. One hundred years later, the Negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. One hundred years later, the Negro is still languished in the corners of American society and finds himself an exile in his own land. And so we've come here today to dramatize a shameful condition.

In a sense we've come to our nation's capital to cash a check. When the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir. This note was a promise that all men, yes, black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the "unalienable Rights" of "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." It is obvious today that America has defaulted on this promissory note, insofar as her citizens of color are concerned. Instead of honoring this sacred obligation, America has given the Negro people a bad check, a check which has come back marked "insufficient funds."

But we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation. And so, we've come to cash this check, a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice.

We have also come to this hallowed spot to remind America of the fierce urgency of Now. This is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God's children.

In todays international news..

The climate summit deal was passed today. There was a meeting between the US, China, Brazil and many other countries as well. This deal took many moths to be come up with. This deal was basically to help the countries to come up with a plan to help save our diminishing ozone layer that is being destroyed due to our pollution. This deal will be the key to our survival.

GEOMETRY WITH...


To explain the congruence of triangles is quite hard. However here are some pointers. Always look for congruent side familiar terms such as midpoint, parallel lines, and transversal line. Once you find that the triangles have all three sides equal, two sides and an angle equal, or two angles and a side equal all you have to do is write your proof which is where you explains how you got to your answer.

LIFT OFF!


NASA is home to many scientist workers. On the website I was able to find current experiments and information on space shuttles they put money into and me being interested in such greatly appreciated this information

ESPN The Worldwide Leader in Sports


On the ESPN site I found list of different sports and highlights of past days and current sports news. When first welcomed to the page I encountered a picture of Rolando McClain a defensive back for Alabama's college football team. The good thing about this website is that it can keep me up to date on all my favorite sports teams and events like the current world series. My favorite team The Yankees are currently in the lead to win. They just need one more game, hopefully tonight's. ESPN is great for sports lovers and will be one of the best resources for sports for years to come.

Visiting the ebay website I found out I was able to find things to buy. However it wasn't like most shopping sites. On ebay you bid on goods that are up for sale. I find this website to be quite helpful when you are trying to find a good number of things for a low price because the people selling are just trying to get money for whatever they have.

My thanksgiving was great. I saw my cousins and had a good time. The food was excellent. We had ham, turkey, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, salad, and these cornbread kind of things. It was great!

EDUCATION.. YOU NEED IT


The NYC education system seems to be running off track. Scores have lowered and they are now reducing the budgets. I personally as a 9th grader does not agree with the cuts they plan on making. If the scores are decreasing reducing money going into the schools won't help solve the problems in education we have.

Wal-Mart is the super store. They have everything from groceries to video games. They have such a great variety things to buy for such a low price. Because these stores are so big they can only be found in suburban areas. I liked the site because their broad selection makes looking for things very easy for me and anyone else. You can do food, school, and christmas shopping in one day. Isn't that something?

The NCAA is the college level of sports. Schools all around the nation participate to win each sports trophy. The most popular of the NCAA sports are Basketball and football. While the football season is coming to an end the basketball season is quickly coming and I feel is going to be a great year because playing here decides if you have enough to make it to the NBA. So we will see who comes on top.

Who's idea was it to make books?
